The Haunting of Hill House | Netflix | When the genre is Horror, this is the closest to perfection one can ever get.

I wouldn't call myself a sucker for the genre 'horror', nor am I usually inclined to get started on a series if its anything but a thriller. The trailer was interesting yet it was not that enticing. This is why  The Haunting of Hill House  (A Netflix Original) haunted and thrilled me in so many levels. Every aspect of the series, from the writing, cast, background music, cinematography, sets and story are off the charts and is oozing with class. Without doubt the series turned out to be one of the best Horror series I ever saw. From the moment the series kicked off,  Mike Flanagan  lets us dissect and judge the lives of 7 individuals through an elaborate mixture of moments from the past and present, all leading to the Hill House. The series keeps alternating between the two timelines surrounding the 'Crain' Family. The Kominsky Method | Netflix | Brilliant, thought provoking, well made comedy for adults.

Some friendships never get old, says the tagline and that is precisely what ' The Kominsky Method ' is all about. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin star in this story about a couple of senior citizens who are at an uncompromising crossroad that life threw at them at an age that can be considered to be 'old'. The friendship is beautiful, thought provoking and at the same time funny to the core. Just goes to remind that life is a thousand times easier if you have a funny bone in you irrespective of the situation you are in. I loved watching the series and am eagerly waiting for the season 2.

The Outsider | Netflix Original | Slammed by the critics, loved by us

The Outsider  (Gaijin), starring  Jared Leto , is the latest addition to those Netflix Originals that was slammed by most of the critics and yet turned out to be an enjoyable watch for me. This Netflix Original tries to experiment with the less talk and more acting type of storytelling which is not often seen in the genre of crime thrillers. For an out and out Jared Leto movie, The Outsider is more than 70% Japanese. The movie follows the story of an American soldier imprisoned in post-war Japan who enters the Japanese Mob Family, Yakuza after befriending one of them while in prison. The support cast of  Tadanobu Asano ,  Kippei Shîna  and  Shioli Kutsuna  are amazing throughout but no gaze goes past the intensity of  Nick Lowell , portrayed by Jared Leto. The intensity and honestly he brings to his character is beyond words. The story telling style and the exhaustive usage of Japanese in the movie makes it difficult to convert ‘The Outsider...
